Kuan Yin Shrine, Chokchai 4

Kuan Yin Shrine, Chokchai 4

Chokchai 4 Soi 39, Lat Phrao.

The Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva Temple (Guan Yin Temple) is located at 4/37 Soi Sukhasan 7, Lat Phrao 53 (Chok Chai 4), Bangkok 10230. Its background is as follows: In early February 1983, after having returned from a pilgrimage in Shanghai, China, Mother Voraporn Lertrangsi received a divine message from Guan Yin. The message stated, "It is time to establish a new permanent temple for Guan Yin, as in the near future, many worthy individuals will come to pay their respects." She foresaw that the old temple in Huai Khwang would not be able to accommodate the increasing flow of devotion. Eventually, the land belonging to Mother Voraporn in the Lat Phrao area was deemed the most suitable location. There stands a large tree that has long been the abode of the Green Dragon God (Sae Leng Iek Gong), a guardian deity who has watched over this site for centuries, awaiting the arrival of the great Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva to construct the Guan Yin temple and the great stupa, marking it as a holy site. This sacred place serves as a guiding light for many, leading them towards the shores of Nirvana.
