👉 **Krasae Cave Railway Station** 👈 This railway station is a popular spot for those eager to witness the notorious Death Railway. Tourists flock here on weekends to catch sight of the special tourist train that passes by. Krasae Cave is located just a stone's throw away from the station, perched on a cliff near the tracks. Historically, it served as a resting place for prisoners of war during the construction of the Thai-Burma railway. 👉 The Krasae Cave is renowned for its breathtaking views and is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful and dangerous points along the Bangkok-Nam Tok railway, often referred to as "The Death Railway." Visitors can walk out from the mouth of the cave and take photos on the railway tracks. Peering down from the tracks, you can see the Khwae Noi River flowing beneath, which requires extra caution. Each day, both Thai and international tourists come in droves to enjoy the stunning sights of the Death Railway at Krasae Cave. 👉 Constructed during World War II, this segment of the Death Railway was built using the labor of Allied prisoners of war and Asian workers conscripted by the Japanese army. It served as a strategic route through Burma. Today, the line extends from Kanchanaburi Station to Nam Tok Station, covering approximately 77 kilometers. “If one were to count the sleepers on the railway track, they are equal to the number of lives lost—those prisoners of war who were forced to build this railway,” is a poignant reflection on the historical Thai-Burma railway, which spans over 415 kilometers. It embodies the cruelty, brutality, and hardships endured by the prisoners, earning its somber title: “The Death Railway.”
