Phra Ram Ratchaniwet or Wang Ban Puen

Phetchaburi, the city of Phetchaburi.

It is a palace of exquisite beauty, uniquely combining European and Thai styles. Built during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), it was conceived as a European-style royal residence to be used during the rainy season. This palace is noted for its stunning architecture, representing one of Thailand's most beautiful royal residences. The structure features Baroque and Art Nouveau architectural elements, known in Germany as Jugendstil. Unlike other buildings from the same period, this palace emphasizes modernity, shunning elaborate plaster decorations. Instead, it highlights the height of the windows and ceilings, which are particularly spacious, giving the palace an impressive, grand, and magnificent appearance.
