Located along Intakhong Yot Road in the Nai Mueang sub-district, close to Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, this museum was established in 1927 by Phaya Ratchanukulwibulphakdi Piriya Phaha, the municipal governor of the Phayao province. Later, the Fine Arts Department constructed a new building, which was completed in 1975. In 1979, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously inaugurated the new building. The museum is divided into three main exhibition rooms: 1. **Main Exhibition Hall**: This spacious hall is located on the upper floor and showcases ancient artifacts classified into three historical periods: the prehistoric era, the Hariphunchai period, and the Lanna period. Highlights include Buddha images, heads of Buddha statues, clay prints, and deities. 2. **Folk Art and Woodcarving Room**: This smaller exhibition space is situated in a single-story building connected to the main hall. It focuses on Lanna and Rattanakosin art, showcasing local wisdom through household items, blacksmithing tools, weaving equipment, traditional musical instruments, flower trays, and areca nut containers, among others. 3. **Inscription Room**: This room exhibits inscriptions from the Hariphunchai period, dating back to the 17th Buddhist century, as well as those from the Lanna period, starting from the 20th Buddhist century onwards. The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday (closed on Monday, Tuesday, and public holidays) from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Admission fees are 10 baht for Thai citizens and 30 baht for foreigners.
