Wat Klang Kao is a spacious and well-maintained temple located in the heart of Surat Thani. It houses a bronze statue of Prince Chumphon, allowing visitors to pay their respects. The temple is easily accessible, situated near the Lower Market, and was originally named Wat Klang. Historically, in the year 1893, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) visited the southern provinces and stayed at the residence in Ban Don, Chaiya district, Surat Thani. During this visit, he proceeded to Wat Klang, where he was warmly welcomed by Phra Kru Suwannarangsee. Out of his royal generosity, the King granted 40 baht to Phra Kru Suwannarangsee for the restoration of the temple's ubosot.
