Wat Ku is a large temple located by the banks of the Chao Phraya River, and it can be considered synonymous with Nonthaburi province. The province’s slogan beautifully captures its essence: "A splendid royal residence, famous for the Somdej Park, Ko Kred known for its ceramics, ancient temples renowned far and wide, and the celebrated durians of Nonthaburi, all making the government center a sight to behold." The mentioned royal residence is also situated within this temple, linked to King Rama V and his significant consort. Wat Ku is well-known for the tragic event of the royal boat capsizing on the Chao Phraya River near the temple, leading to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sunandha Kumariratana, the principal consort of King Chulalongkorn, while accompanying the royal entourage to Bang Pa-In Palace. The royal residence by the Chao Phraya River is surrounded by food stalls with a pleasant atmosphere. Visitors can feed the fish and even release fish at this river pier. There is ample parking space available. Within the temple grounds, one can find the Luang Por Samret and the Phra Buddha Sam Wang statues, alongside a large reclining Buddha for devotees to pay their respects.
