Wat Cho Lae Phra Ngam

Cholay Subdistrict, Mae Taeng District

At Wat Chor Lae, an ancient temple dating back to the Pan-Na era, the local community came together to rebuild the temple in the year 1876. This temple is renowned for its stunning stupa, crafted by the skilled hands of both Burmese and Lanna artisans. It also houses a rare Buddha statue known as Phra Rod Chor Lae. Recently, archaeologists discovered a beautifully preserved Buddha image, measuring 4 inches wide and 6 inches tall, prompting locals to affectionately name it Wat Chor Lae Phra Ngaam. This Buddha statue had been lost for a long time, but it has since been recreated, now more beautiful than ever. The Kawila dynasty flourished during the era of Chao Intavichayanon. The temple is located within the Kan Phatthana municipal area, which has plans to promote tourism to help raise awareness about this significant cultural site.
