Wat Tham Khao Yoi

Phetchaburi

Another significant temple in Phetchaburi province is a popular destination for locals who come to pay their respects to the reclining Buddha housed within the Khao Yoi Cave. Historically, during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama IV), the king himself visited this site for meditation, spending several nights in contemplation within the cave. The temple features a large reclining Buddha statue for worshippers to pay homage to, along with a footprint of the Buddha that visitors can gild. There is also a cave accessible by a short descent where one can find the statue of Phra Chao U Thong, which is another object of reverence. Additionally, it's important to note that the area is home to a considerable number of monkeys.
