Wat Fai Hin

Subdistrict Suthep, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province

Wat Phai Hin is an ancient temple that once served as the residence of Phra Apai Saratha, the first abbot of Chiang Mai Province during the Rattanakosin era, and the first Sangha Supreme Patriarch of Lanna, Thailand. The temple is located adjacent to Chiang Mai University on the western side. Since 1969, Chiang Mai University has taken Wat Phai Hin under its patronage and has continuously supported its development. Furthermore, Wat Phai Hin serves as a religious site where Chiang Mai University holds important Buddhist ceremonies for faculty, government officials, staff, students, and the general Buddhist community. These events include merit-making ceremonies during significant Buddhist observances such as the Tak Bat Devo ceremony, Visakha Bucha, Magha Bucha, Asalha Bucha, and the beginning of the Buddhist Lent, among others.
