Wat Phra Samut Chedi, located in Moo 3, Ban Chedi, Pak Khlong Bang Pakod Subdistrict, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province, is a public temple situated opposite the Samut Prakan Provincial Hall. It attracts many visitors who come to pay their respects and is recognized as a symbol of Samut Prakan. Locally, it is often referred to as the "Chedi in the Water," as the area where the chedi was built originally was an island in the river. Over time, the right bank of the river has gradually silted, connecting the island where the chedi stands. Samut Prakan is a city that traces its origins back to the Ayutthaya period. The old town is found in the Phra Pradaeng District and was known as "Muang Phra Pradaeng." It served as a significant trading post for foreign merchants conducting business with Thailand.
