Wat Phra Singh, Chiang Rai

Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang District

Wat Phra Aram Luang Chantri is a historic temple located in the heart of Chiang Rai. It is believed to have been established during the reign of King Mahaprom, the brother of King Kuehna, around the year 1928 B.E. This temple once housed the revered Buddha Sihing image for over 20 years. Inside the temple, visitors can find several intriguing features, such as the main Buddha image in the ubosot, showcasing exquisite Lanna art, as well as the ubosot itself, which exhibits Thai-Lanna and Chiang Saen architectural styles. The beautifully carved wooden door panels, Lanna-style chedis, a replica of the Buddha’s footprints, a traditional door archway, and the bell tower all add to the temple's charm. Moreover, there is a sacred Bodhi tree sourced from Bodh Gaya and a Sal tree, enriching the spiritual atmosphere of this remarkable site.
