Wat Si Khantharam

Aang Kaew Subdistrict, Pho Thong District

Wat Si Khun is a Dhammayut temple, one of the few in Ang Thong province, making it a notable temple in the market town of Pho Thong. In the past, the temple was presided over by Phra Ajarn Im, who was the teacher of Phra Buddha Khoja Jarn Charoen from Wat Thepsirin and the ancestor of Phra Jao Khun Narath. According to the historical accounts of this lineage, Phra Jao Khun Narath permitted Wat Si Khun to create amulets to generate funds for the temple's permanent structures. During this period, Phra Jao Khun Narath fell gravely ill due to throat cancer, yet he remained steadfast in his meditation and mindfulness. His devoted disciples sought permission to produce various types of amulets from multiple temples, including Wat Thepsirin and Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen, as well as Wat Si Khun. The consecration ceremony for these amulets was held at Wat Thepsirin. At Wat Si Khun, a certain number of Buddha images were created to participate in this event. It can be observed that the design may not be particularly stunning, as the goal was to complete them in time for the ceremony. Additionally, there are many batches of powder that have yet to be pressed into amulet forms. Shortly after the intention was set in prayer, Phra Jao Khun Narath passed away the following year.
