Wat Asokaram spans approximately 53 rai and is where the revered Father Lee began establishing a monastic community around 1954-1955. During this period, most monks residing in the forest were under Father Lee's guidance, following his teachings and practices. The temple is located in the area known as Na Mae Khaow. According to historical accounts in "The Biography of Phra Sutthadhammarangsi Khamphira Metajarn" (Phra Ajahn Lee Thamma Thero), it is stated that "the current location of Wat Asokaram was originally called 'Na Mae Khaow.' The landowners, Mrs. Kimhong and Mr. Sumet Kraikhan, donated approximately 53 rai of land for the construction of the temple. The establishment began in 1954, and by 1955, the first monastic community was officially formed, with Bhikshu Thas, a disciple, appointed to oversee the site along with five other monks, bringing the total to six monks at the inception of the community." After the end of the Vassa and the successful completion of the royal cremation ceremony for His Holiness, Father Lee began residing at Wat Asokaram in 1955.
