Khao Yai Shrine, Koh Si Chang

Tawt Tha Thewa Wong, Amphoe Koh Si Chang.

The Shrine of Phra Phu Khao Yai, located on Ko Sichang in Chonburi Province, is perched on the Kha Yasi Hill, just north of the Te Wa Wong Pier. This shrine is uniquely designed within a cave that has been transformed into a sacred space, blending Chinese and Thai architectural styles. From the shrine, visitors can enjoy a clear view of the houses on the island’s front. A long-held belief states that this place is sacred and revered by Chinese merchants both locally and abroad, who make annual pilgrimages to pay their respects. It’s particularly noted for its significance in matters of work and trade. Traveling from the "Balcony Courtyard," it takes less than 10 minutes by car to reach the Ko Loy Pier, where temporary parking is available. From there, a short boat ride will take you to Ko Sichang in no time. Upon arriving at Ko Sichang and walking towards the sacred site, you will encounter the shrine, which resembles a traditional Chinese pavilion. The deity, Phra Phu Khao Yai, is located within the cave on the hill.
