Tha Mai District

Enhancing the living standards of local residents and developing sustainable fishing practices while maintaining the ecological balance of coastal nature is a vital mission. When it comes to the most lush and beautiful mangrove forest in Chanthaburi, the mangroves within the Koon Kraben Bay Development Study Center, initiated by royal command, is the first name that comes to mind. This area boasts over 30 species of mangrove trees, including the Rhizophora, Avicennia, and Sonneratia. There is also a nature study boardwalk constructed from golden teak wood, integrated with stone paths, stretching over 1.8 kilometers. Along the way, there are 10 symbolic pavilions and several resting points for visitors to enjoy close encounters with nature. The Koon Kraben Bay Development Study Center, established in 1981, encompasses over 4,000 rai of coastal land in the Koon Kraben Bay area. It aims to research, experiment, and cultivate coastal aquatic species, while conserving mangrove plant species and creating habitats for marine life. Furthermore, it promotes sustainable livelihoods for the local community and enhances their quality of life based on principles of sufficiency. For those seeking to relax in harmony with nature and learn about the fishing community's way of life, this living natural museum offers a unique opportunity to connect with the essence of ecological balance. *Must-Visit Attractions* - The Chalerm Phra Kiat Aquatic Animal Exhibition Center, honoring the 6th cycle birthday of His Majesty the King, is an educational resource regarding ecosystems and aquatic species. - The Koon Kraben Mangrove Nature Study Boardwalk, where visitors can admire the rich biodiversity of the mangrove forest.
