Khao Wang, or Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, is a significant tourist attraction in Phetchaburi and is considered a symbol of the town. As you enter Phetchaburi, the prominent sight that stands out from afar is Khao Wang, featuring its pristine white pagoda and buildings. It is an ancient site that has long been associated with the city, situated atop a hill that rises 92 meters above sea level. Originally known as Khao Soman or Khao Khiri, this location is steeped in history. The construction of Phra Nakhon Khiri was commissioned by King Rama IV, who wished to incorporate Western neoclassical architecture into the design. However, the craftsmanship also reflects a blend of Chinese architectural influences, evident in the curved roof ridges and the use of banana leaf tiles. The entire complex is spread across three peaks: the eastern peak, the central peak, and the western peak.
