The Khao Mai Kaew Temporary Prison, located in Ban Khai District, Rayong Province, covers a total area of approximately 1,661 rai, with 57 rai allocated for agricultural plots to support a self-sufficient economy. This initiative serves as a life guide for inmates, preparing them for reintegration into society upon release. What makes this facility particularly intriguing is the absence of fencing around the activity areas, unlike typical prisons. In this environment, inmates are referred to as "students," and the prison itself is dubbed the "Learning Center of the Royal Science." There are a variety of agricultural learning activities available, including the Khaokhonon Model, organic farming demonstration stations, livestock and fishery bases, clean vegetable farming, and new theory agriculture. Additionally, there is a food and beverage service, along with a prison market where inmates can showcase their goods.
