The mangrove reforestation activity was initiated in 1991 by Mr. Paiboon Rattanapongtra, also known as Puyai Chong, along with the residents of Klong Khon Subdistrict. They came together to plant mangroves in an area that had been severely degraded due to the expansion of shrimp farming, which drastically depleted local marine resources. This situation put the livelihoods of local fishermen at risk, a community that had relied on fishing for generations, forcing many to seek work elsewhere. However, with serious efforts to restore the mangrove ecosystem, the mangrove forests in the Klong Khon area began to regain their vitality and abundance. As a result, the coastal marine life that had vanished started to return, revitalizing the community's fishing grounds and offering hope for the future. Through this initiative, visitors can learn and experience local fishing practices and the essence of home-stay living while witnessing the remarkable rehabilitation of the environment.
