This waterfall, known as Rainbow Waterfall, is one of the most stunning natural attractions in Yala. It derives its name from the phenomenon created when water cascades from a height of over 10 meters into the basin below. Upon hitting the cliffs and boulders, the water splashes and creates a fine mist that spreads throughout the area. When sunlight shines down at the right angle, this mist transforms into a beautiful rainbow, making the scene even more enchanting. The Rainbow Waterfall was officially discovered in 1972 by Mr. Payom Wongyaem, an explorer of the local forest who was the first to encounter the waterfall. In 1976, Mr. Payom invited Mr. Direk Thangsang, who was then the acting district chief of Thanto, to explore the site with him. Together, they found that this area was rich in natural beauty and diverse plant life. Since then, efforts have been made to develop Rainbow Waterfall into a tourist destination for the province. The Rainbow Waterfall is located amidst lush tropical rainforest and consists of four levels. To reach the fourth level, visitors can walk along the stream for about 200 meters from the first level. The ideal season for visiting this waterfall is from October to March each year, when the weather is pleasantly cool and visitors can also enjoy the breathtaking sea of mist in the area. However, caution is advised for those wishing to swim in the waterfall, especially around the inner levels where the depths can exceed 2-3 meters. It is strongly recommended that children and adolescents refrain from swimming in these areas. Location: The waterfall is situated within the Bang Lang National Park area, adjacent to the Aiyerweng Subdistrict in Betong District, Yala Province. It is approximately 100 kilometers from downtown Yala. Visitors can access the site via a turnoff from Highway 410 at kilometer marker 97, where a right turn leads directly to the waterfall.
