Wat Khao Kham is located on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River, directly across from Wat Khema Phirattharam, in the area of Bang Phai Sub-district, Mueang District. The name "Wat Khao Kham" comes from the large population of bats in the area, which led locals to give it this moniker. Based on the historical artifacts found at the temple, it is believed to have been built during the Middle Ayutthaya period, specifically during the reign of King Borom Trailokkanat. It underwent significant restoration during the reign of King Rama IV.
