Wat Ban Mon was established in 1797, coinciding with the settlement of the Mon community. The highlight of Wat Ban Mon is the presence of the “sacred twin Bodhi tree,” a unique marvel that stands as one of the "Unseen in Chiang Mai."

วัดบ้านมอญสร้างเมื่อ พ.ศ.2340 ได้รับพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมาเมื่อวันที่ 15 มิถุนายน พ.ศ.2400 แต่เดิมสันนิษฐานว่าคงจะมีการสร้างวัดขึ้นมาพร้อมกับการย้ายมาตั้งถิ่นฐานของชาวมอญ ซึ่งเป็นชาวไทเขินโบราณ ที่ได้อพยพมาจากเขมรัฐนครเชียงตุง
