Wat Phra That Sunanta (Doi Mae Mai), previously known by locals as "Phra That Mae Mai," has a rich history rooted in the legend of King Liap Lok and passed down through the elders of the community. It is said that within its sacred grounds, a strand of the Buddha's hair has been enshrined in the area known as "Mae Ho Det." This name, derived from local traditions, honors those who constructed a stupa and dedicated seats for the Buddha and the Arahants who accompanied Him. The term "Mae Ho Det" comes from the act of collecting branches and leaves for this purpose, and today, it is commonly referred to as "Mae Ho Phra."
