The ancient temple was built by King Saen Phu, the grandson of Phokhun Mengrai the Great. As soon as you enter the temple grounds, you will immediately notice the impressive stupa, standing tall at 88 meters with a base width of 24 meters. It is the largest Lanna-style bell-shaped stupa in the city of Chiang Saen. In addition to the main stupa, there are also many old vihara structures, most of which are in ruins, alongside four other stupas of different styles. Despite significant deterioration over time, this archaeological site has been carefully restored to reflect its historical importance as a significant temple of the city of Hiranyanakhon Niyang during the era of the Lanna Kingdom.
