Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew)

Na Phra Lan, Phra Borom Maharajwan.

Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, commonly known as Wat Phra Kaew, is a temple commissioned by King Rama I, the founder of the Rattanakosin Kingdom, in 1782. This temple was built within the grounds of the Grand Palace, modeled after Wat Phra Si Sanphet from the Ayutthaya period. It is situated in the outer court of the royal residence on the eastern side, surrounded by a cloister that creates a sacred area. Wat Phra Kaew is a royal temple that does not have resident monks; instead, it serves as the venue for royal ordinations and gatherings where courtiers take the oath of allegiance to the monarch.
