Wat Ming Mueang

36 Suriyapong Road, in the city of Nan.

The intricate stucco patterns adorning the exterior walls of the main chapel (Ubosot), crafted by the skilled artisans of the Chiang Saen family, are a sight to behold and must be experienced at least once at the magnificent Wat Ming Muang. As you step inside the chapel, you'll encounter wall murals that portray the way of life of the local people in Nan, painted by contemporary local artists. Furthermore, the city pillar located in the front sala, known as the Jaturamuk, is also worthy of your reverence. This pillar, standing approximately 3 meters tall, features a base embellished with intricately carved wood adorned with lacquer and gold leaf. At its top, the pillar is beautifully sculpted in the likeness of a celestial being, reflecting the virtues of Metta (loving-kindness), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (sympathetic joy), and Upekkha (equanimity).
