Wat Muang

Huasan Subdistrict, Wiset Chai Chan District, Ang Thong Province.

The famous temple in Ang Thong province is believed to have been established during the late Ayutthaya period. The standout feature of this temple is the "Luang Pho Yai," or the "Phra Buddha Mahanawaminthar Sakya Munisarivitichai," a stunning golden statue of Buddha in the subduing Mara posture. This impressive statue measures 62 meters wide and stands 93 meters tall, making it clearly visible from a distance. There is a local belief that those who visit and touch the fingertips of Luang Pho Yai will receive blessings, leading them to be reborn as devout Buddhists in future lives. Furthermore, it is thought that this act promotes career advancement and prosperity, helping individuals gain promotions and elevate their positions. As a result, many people from Ang Thong province and neighboring areas frequently travel to pay their respects at this remarkable site.
