Wat Sanphet is an ancient temple built during the late Ayutthaya period, although its construction history remains unclear. The remnants that still exist include the old ubosot (ordination hall), which features a distinctive curved base and roof design reminiscent of an elephant's belly. The front is adorned with a covering, a style that was highly popular during the late Ayutthaya era. At the base of the Buddha statue in the old ubosot, intricate gilded stucco patterns decorated with colorful beetle shells can be found, showcasing the unique artistic style of the late Ayutthaya period. This remains the only example of this art style in the Sam Phran district. The ubosot was restored during the time of Luang Pu Phan, coinciding with the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). Within the temple grounds, there is the Sanphet Museum, established to preserve local heritage. The upper level displays ancient Buddha statues, while the lower level showcases an array of artifacts collected by the temple over the years, such as royal tea sets from 1250 BE, beautiful Chinese porcelain, glazed trays, and intricately cut glassware from Europe, as well as various tea pot styles.
