Wat Ko Kaew Suttharam, commonly known among locals as Wat Ko, is a fascinating temple with a rich history. In the past, a network of waterways surrounded it, specifically on the western side adjacent to the Phet River. Two significant water channels branched off from the main river surrounding the temple. The northern channel diverged from the larger river and flowed eastward. The southern channel, known as Khlong Wat Ko, served as a boundary between Wat Ko and Wat Chantharavasa. This canal also flows eastward, where it merges with the northern stream, forming a waterway that encapsulates the temple, thus giving it the name "Wat Ko" — the island temple. These watercourses have been likened to the lifeblood of the local community, nurturing and sustaining it. Wat Ko Kaew Suttharam, or Wat Ko, has been established since the Ayutthaya period and is situated in the Tarab sub-district of Mueang Phetchaburi District. Its northern border meets private land, the southern edge aligns with Khlong Wat Ko, the eastern side touches Matyayawong Road, and the western boundary borders the Phet River. Within the temple grounds, one can find numerous ancient structures, including the crematory, the hall, three-room monk quarters, and the ubosot, all of which add to the temple's historical significance.
