Within the original temple lies the Buddha image known as Phra Buddha Vimaya, which was established in 2000 and is affiliated with the Maha Nikaya sect. It received royal permission for its boundary marking in 1935. Originally, the temple area was located within the Phimai Historical Park. It is believed that during the fall of Ayutthaya to the Burmese, Prince Thepphiphit established a faction known as the Phimai faction, and the temple came to be referred to as Wat Chao Phimai. This ancient temple holds a significant historical place in the hearts of the local community and has stood as a testament to time since ancient days.
