Wat Saengsawasitharam, although a small temple, serves as a significant spiritual anchor for Buddhists from both Amnat Charoen and neighboring provinces. Many visitors come to pay their respects and seek blessings at the Sri Saen Mueang Stupa, which is adorned with four Buddha figures, symbolizing protection for the town from all directions, especially at the Guardian Spirit shrine. The name “Sri Saen Mueang” holds profound meaning. “Sri” signifies auspiciousness and honor, while “Mueang” refers specifically to Amnat Charoen, which was elevated from the status of a large village. The term “Saen” conveys two interpretations: the first represents the community of Saen Sawat, as well as Saen Sawasdee 1 and Saen Sawasdee 2, alongside neighboring communities. The second interpretation of “Saen” indicates the numerous laypeople—both women and men—who gather in their thousands to pay homage, seeking blessings for their well-being, prosperity, and the auspicious development of themselves and their families. This place also aims to be a unifying center for the hearts and minds of the Buddhist community in Amnat Charoen.
