Originally a wooden shrine, it was later renovated into a brick and mortar structure resembling a Chinese temple. The original city pillar was located in front of the shrine, but later a new city pillar shrine was built along with a four-sided pavilion to house it. Celebrations are held every year during the Songkran Festival, with the official ceremony taking place on November 4, 1992.
