Sufficiency Economy Learning Center Northeast Suranaree Camp

Chumphon Road, Nong Phai Lom Sub-district, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District.

Walking in the Footsteps of Father: Living by the Principles of Sufficiency Economy In the current global trend, where everyone is showing an increasing interest in agritourism, Nakhon Ratchasima, known as Korat or "Yamo City," is a must-visit destination, especially the Suranaree Military Camp. This site is home to the Learning Center for Sufficiency Economy in the Northeast, which serves as a demonstration center for new agricultural practices with the primary aim of instilling the principles of a sufficiency economy. At the sprawling and beautiful Bung Ta Luang Water Park, most visitors comprise government officials, farmers, locals, students, and those seeking agricultural knowledge. Here, you can observe various cultivation plots and participate in numerous training programs related to agriculture—ranging from fisheries, raising Korat chickens, lime cultivation, organic fertilizer production, to more complex topics such as household accounting and solar energy management for efficiency. Before leaving, guests often take home chemical-free vegetables grown by the local women's group at the center. A visit here ensures a valuable and enriching experience. *Must-See Attractions* - Exhibition Hall: Showcasing concepts, principles, and the lifestyles of farmers across different spheres. - Handicraft Building: Featuring exquisite textile crafts. - Mushroom Cultivation Station: Selling oyster mushrooms that you can try growing and take home. The center provides accommodation options ranging from cabins to rooms in the main building. To fully benefit from the lectures, it is advisable to schedule a visit with the speakers in advance. *Unmissable Activities* - Each year, two major festivals take place here: the Mother’s Day Festival on August 10-11, featuring rice planting activities by students from affiliated schools, and the Father’s Day Festival on December 3-4, which showcases rice harvesting. Anyone visiting Korat during these times should not miss out on the festivities.
