This place can be considered the heart of Nong Bua Lam Phu province. Just the name of the province paints a vivid picture, suggesting an area characterized by a lake that serves as a symbol for the region, with enchanting scenery all around. Therefore, when visiting Nong Bua Lam Phu, one must visit Nong Bua Public Park, the prominent water feature of the province. This large lake is located in front of the Nong Bua Lam Phu District Office and holds water year-round. The lake area serves as a serene retreat for locals, especially in the evenings. Behind the lake, the Phu Phan Kham mountain range stretches beautifully, creating a perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls, scenic views, and soaking in the tranquility of the surrounding nature, particularly in the evenings when the sun sets below the horizon. This moment becomes a breathtaking scene that photography enthusiasts should not miss capturing as a cherished memory. Looking westward, you can spot the Two Maidens’ Tower, which the locals believe is dedicated to the twin granddaughters of Phra Wo and Phra Ta, the founders of Nong Bua Lam Phu. Their names are Kam Sri and Kam Sai, and they were tasked with guarding a giant gong brought from Vientiane to prevent anyone from stealing it. Additionally, not far from this lake, there is the San Buddhist shrine dedicated to King Naresuan, a historical monument reminding us that at one time, Nong Bua Lam Phu was a significant place recorded in history when King Naresuan camped here with his army.
