The Tapus Bridge is a wooden suspension bridge located between the Fire Department of Ayeyarwong Subdistrict and the house of the village headman in Village No. 2, Km. 32, Ayeyarwong Subdistrict, Betong District, Yala Province. The bridge spans 1.8 meters in width and extends over 100 meters across the Pattani River. It was constructed in the past by the former subdistrict headman, Mr. Museeng Tapusu, the father of Mr. Montian Tapusu, the subdistrict headman (who retired in 2017) and the father of the current village headman, Mr. Akrakdet Tapusu. Community members collaborated with the government to gather funds and resources, as they faced challenges in acquiring the necessary materials, specifically the cables sourced from Japan, which was a significant undertaking at the time. This bridge has greatly alleviated the hardships faced by residents living on the opposite side of the river. Previously, people relied on bamboo rafts to cross, which led to tragic annual fatalities among children, particularly during the transportation of agricultural products or when ferrying the sick. The construction of Tapus Bridge, through collective effort and community spirit, has become a symbol of the struggle of the Km. 32 people in overcoming natural barriers, showcasing unity and resilience. Located near the picturesque Ayeyarwong Sea of Fog and the R.9 Waterfall, and adjacent to Highway 410, the bridge has become a popular spot for tourists wishing to capture memorable photographs. As such, it has gained recognition as a new landmark that should not be missed when visiting Ayeyarwong Subdistrict, Betong District, Yala Province. It is not surprising that this location has ranked among the top attractions in Ayeyarwong over the past three years (2016-2018).
