The Phutthakothani Reservoir is an important water source for agriculture and fishery, as well as a perfect place for relaxation. With its refreshing breezes, the reservoir area is also home to several resorts. The history of the Phutthakothani Reservoir marks it as one of the key tourist attractions in Amnat Charoen Province. It is situated in the administrative area of Ban Phutthamongkol, Tambon Bung, in the Mueang District, just 3 kilometers north of the city center. Constructed by the Royal Irrigation Department, the reservoir took six years to complete, starting in 1957 and finishing in 1963. It is also known as Huai Plakdaek Reservoir. This large reservoir can hold up to 21.94 million cubic meters of water, making it a vital resource, especially during the rainy season, providing irrigation for more than 14,214 acres, and over 4,000 acres during the dry season. Additionally, it serves as a crucial source of water for consumption within the district. The dam measures an impressive 1,300 meters in length and 6 meters in width at its crest, offering magnificent views of the surrounding landscapes, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and leisure activities. To enhance the area’s appeal for tourism, the provincial administration has beautified the surroundings of the Phutthakothani Reservoir, creating a more shaded and inviting environment. Visitors can enjoy this scenic location every day from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. For more information, please contact the Amnat Charoen Provincial Public Relations Office at 0 4552 3127.
