It is a reservoir used for consumption within Khao Yai National Park, and it also serves as a water source for wildlife. The construction was initiated by Mr. Boonruang Saisorn, the first head of Khao Yai National Park, in 1981. During this construction period, Mr. Boonruang returned to serve as the park's director for his second term. Originally, it was called the Mosin Lion Reservoir, named after the nearby Mosin Lion rock formation that resembles a lion. However, in 2007, the name was changed to Saisorn Reservoir in honor of Mr. Boonruang Saisorn, the park's first director, who played a pivotal role in establishing the park. The name change also aimed to prevent any misunderstandings among the public about the presence of lions in Khao Yai National Park.
