The place is characterized by a small island located at the mouth of Phang Nga Bay, which is smaller than Koh Panyee. Khao Phing Kan is a unique mountain that stands out distinctively from any other mountain. It consists of two peaks that are closely connected, forming a straight line from the summit to the base. Visitors who have had the opportunity to explore Khao Phing Kan often speculate that in ancient times, it may have been a single mountain that was struck by lightning, resulting in a finely divided separation into two closely-knit peaks. Alternatively, it could be the result of a natural phenomenon that caused the mountain to develop a crack or fissure, dividing it into two parts that appear to have been cut straight down from the summit to the base but remain connected, leading to its name, "Khao Phing Kan," which means "the leaning mountain."
