The name "Betong" comes from the Malay language, meaning bamboo. It is the southernmost district of Thailand, surrounded by mountains and characterized by a cool, comfortable climate with frequent rainfall and morning fog. This picturesque setting has earned it the nickname "City in the Mist, Beautiful Flowers." It is a popular travel destination for Malaysians. A distinctive symbol of Betong is the swallow, which can be commonly seen in the central community area, perched on buildings and electrical wires. Particularly around the clock tower, these swallows gather in large numbers from September to March.
