The History of the Thep Rasi Foundation is located at 197 Phuket Road, Talad Yai, Muang District, Phuket. The Thep Rasi Foundation, also known as Bang Niew Shrine or Pak Taow Boo Keng shrine, is an ancient shrine dating back to approximately 1904. Locally, it is called "Taow Boo Keng Shrine" or "Chai Tiang." The original history of the shrine is not well-documented; however, it is known that a Chinese opera troupe called Kang Chai Hi traveled from China to perform on the narrow alley known as Makhao (now Ramanan Road) and brought with them the deity Tian Hoo Huan Soi (Lao Ai) for religious rituals. This led the local community to develop a deep faith and partake in the merit-making activities and the annual vegetarian festival.
