The Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Center was established on the site of the former royal palace. Constructed in 1924, this building features stunning architecture. It initially served as the central administration office for the Phayap Province and later became the Chiang Mai Provincial Hall. In 1997, the municipal government renovated the building and transformed it into an arts and cultural center. The restoration project won an award from the Association of Siamese Architects in 1999.
