MK Restaurant

MK Restaurant

Level 1, Market Village Hua Hin

MK began as a small family-run Thai restaurant in the Siam Square area, established by Aunt Thongkam Mekto, who purchased the business from Makong King Yee, who relocated his family to Boston, USA in 1962. With a deep passion for service, Aunt Thongkam dedicated herself to the business, earning the loyalty of her customers who returned time and again, eventually becoming regulars. This was largely due to her warm hospitality. During that time, the restaurant was famous for various dishes, such as Hainanese chicken rice, braised beef, Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, and Korean barbecue (cooked over charcoal). They also offered delicious cakes around New Year’s. As the business flourished, by 1984, shopping malls began to sprout up. Aunt Thongkam was invited by Khun Samrit Jirathiwat to open a new restaurant at Central Ladprao, which was rebranded as “Green MK,” still serving traditional Thai cuisine. It quickly became popular with families and office workers. In 1986, Khun Samrit encouraged Aunt Thongkam to launch the first MK Suki restaurant at Central Ladprao, featuring sukiyaki as the main specialty, which continuously drew in customers. Since then, the brand has expanded significantly, boasting over 400 branches across Thailand, with additional locations in countries like Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia.
