The Grand Palace, or Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang, is the official residence of the kings of the Kingdom of Thailand during the Rattanakosin Era, from the reign of King Rama I to King Rama V. Located in the Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok, this majestic palace continues to be a venue for important royal ceremonies each year, even though it is no longer the residence of the monarch. The Grand Palace remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in Thailand, attracting 8,995,000 visitors in 2006 alone.
