Chankrasanth Palace is an ancient royal palace situated along the banks of the Nan River on the western side, to the north of Phitsanulok. It is the birthplace of King Naresuan the Great and served as his residence when he held the position of Uparaja. At that time, Phitsanulok was an important frontier city of Ayutthaya. The Fine Arts Department officially registered this archaeological site and announced its boundaries in 1994. Notable sites in the vicinity of Chankrasanth Palace include: - The Chankrasanth Historical Center, an exhibition building showcasing information related to Chankrasanth Palace, the city of Phitsanulok, and the royal history of King Naresuan the Great. It is open for visits daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. - Wat Wihan Thong, located to the south of Chankrasanth Palace. It features a central stupa designed in the early Ayutthaya style. Currently, what remains are the base and lotus base of the stupa, which is believed to have originally housed the Phra Atharavasa, currently located in the Ubosot of Wat Saket. A replica of this Buddha statue, sized to match the original, has been placed in the original temple. It is presumed that Wat Wihan Thong was constructed between the 20th and 21st Buddhist centuries. - Wat Si Sukhot, situated in the southwest outside the walls of Chankrasanth Palace, features a bell-shaped central stupa with additional stupas at all four corners. It is presumed to have existed prior to the construction of Chankrasanth Palace, built between the 20th and 21st Buddhist centuries. - Wat Phothong, located in the southwest outside the walls of Chankrasanth Palace, comprises a central stupa that has only its base remaining, accompanied by stupas at all four corners.
