Experience the charm of a bygone era as you feel like a character straight out of a historical movie at the Ancient Artillery Museum, located in the historic area of the Grand Palace. The highlight of this place is its three-story building designed with European architectural style. The exterior is painted a cheerful yellow, complemented by white trim, while the windows are adorned in green—a color combination that was quite popular in the past. The large and spacious structure stretches out before you, offering a pleasingly orderly aesthetic. In front of the museum lies an impressive collection of 40 ancient cannons, including the Narai Sangan cannon, the Phaya Thani cannon, and a set of custom-made cannons from France. These pieces are showcased beautifully, creating an open-air museum that displays artillery dating from the late Ayutthaya period to the Rattanakosin era. The cannons are neatly arranged by age and period, and have been meticulously maintained, standing elegantly alongside the Grand Palace. This site is a must-visit for those interested in the history of warfare and Thailand's military equipment. The picturesque backdrop evokes a sense of nostalgia that makes you want to capture stunning photographs. Location: Inside the ancient building of the Ministry of Defense, opposite the Grand Palace, on Sanam Chai Road, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok. The museum is open for visitors every day. It is recommended to use public transportation as parking is difficult. Starting from the Victory Monument, take a bus to Sanam Luang on routes 39, 59, or 503, or from the Victory Monument to Rajadamnern on routes 12, 39, 59, 157, 171, 201, 503, or 509.
