Wat Mahanam, Home to the 400-Year-Old Luang Por Khao and the Largest Sangkachai Statue Wat Mahanam is located in Ban Mahanam, Moo 4, Tambon Chai Phumi, Chaiyo District, Ang Thong Province. According to elders who were born during the reign of King Rama V, Wat Mahanam has been established since 1776. Initially known as Wat Intraram, the temple later became associated with a monk named Phra Maharanam, who resided there. He constructed monk's quarters, a merit-making pavilion, and encouraged other monks from nearby temples to settle there as well. This made it convenient for local residents to come and make merit without needing to travel far to other temples. Eventually, the villagers began referring to the temple as "Wat Intraram Nam Maha," which was then shortened to "Wat Mahanam."
