Wat Laksiri Ratsamakhom is home to a highly revered Buddha statue that holds great significance for the local community in Phaya and the entire Samut Sakhon province. Known as Luang Po To, this ancient sandstone Buddha statue from the U-Thong period is depicted in the subduing Mara pose. With its serene countenance and gentle smile, it attracts visitors seeking solace. The temple features a pier in front of the hall, teeming with various fish, providing a perfect spot for relaxation where visitors can feed the fish. Additionally, there’s a vibrant market nearby offering a vast array of goods, fresh vegetables, and more. According to local lore, there have been numerous reports of villagers spotting bright orbs departing from the thatched-roof hall and soaring into the sky. They believe that Luang Po To demonstrates miraculous powers. In the past, traders navigating their boats filled with fresh produce would stop by the temple, folding their hands in prayer for good sales. Many would also scoop water from the canal in front of the hall to bless their goods. The results were astonishing, with every item on their boats selling out. On their return journey, they would not forget to purchase fruits and garlands to offer, along with firecrackers that echoed throughout the waterways, creating a festive atmosphere.
