Kaeng Krachan Dam is a significant dam that received the royal benevolence of His Majesty King Rama IX, who initiated its study and construction. It is the largest earth dam in Thailand, built to obstruct the Phetchaburi River at the area near Khao Chao and Khao Mai Ruak, close to the Kaeng Krachan sub-district in Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province. Located 27 kilometers upstream from Phetch Dam, the dam itself measures 760 meters in length, 8 meters in width, and stands 58 meters high, with its crest at an elevation of 106 meters above sea level. At its widest base, it spans 250 meters. Completed in 1966, it forms a large freshwater lake that is ideal for recreational activities and relaxation.
