Phadaeng is a formation of red sandstone from the Phu Phan group, part of the Korat sandstone group, dating back 208-201 million years. The sedimentary layers of this stone are nearly parallel to the horizon, giving rise to impressive cliffs. This geological marvel was formed due to the uplift of the Indochina Micro Plate, which occurred as a result of its colliding movements with the Shan-Thai Micro Plate to the west.

During this rainy season, the tourist attractions in Sa Kaeo are undoubtedly focused on enjoying nature's stunning views. Among the most famous spots are Pha Daeng, Pha Bai Fern, and Pha Phaya Rai Bai, which is particularly interesting. Each cliff typically features beautifully stacked large rock slabs, soaring approximately 50 to 100 meters above the ground.

The Phra Buddha Pusaya Kiri Sri Suwannaphum, also known as Luang Por U Thong, is a magnificent carved Buddha statue situated within a cliff at Wat Khao Thaem Thian in U Thong District, Suphan Buri Province. This site has become a popular landmark for visitors who come to make merit and admire its grandeur.

In addition to the statue's impressive size and beauty, this area possesses a rich historical background. It is believed that Wat Khao Thaem Thian, the home of Phra Buddha Pusaya Kiri Sri Suwannaphum, is one of the oldest temples in Thailand, established 300 years after the Parinirvana of the Buddha. During that time, the Venerable Mokkalaputta Tissa presided over the Third Buddhist Council, endorsed by Emperor Ashoka of India, who sent the monks Sona and Uttara to spread Buddhism in the Suwannaphum region. Ancient Sanskrit inscriptions were left on stone, stating that 'Pusaya Kiri' translates to ‘mountain of flowers,’ signifying the beauty of the blossoms, which include Suphanika flowers (wild cotton) and three-colored wild orchids found on the mountain. This name beautifully connects to the Pusaya Kiri Sangharama located in Sanchi, Odisha.

The name "Wat Khao Thaem Thian" refers to the temple built alongside Wat Khao Phra, as "Thian" means "pair." The temple was officially recognized for construction in 1917, and it was granted the “visuhngkama sīma” (the area designated by the king for monks to build an ordination hall) in 1928.

The journey from Suphan Buri city to U Thong takes about 40 minutes, leading you to the district and then up towards Khao Thaem Thian. The road is well-maintained and marked with signs. The site features spacious, open areas and the carved cliffs create a stunning backdrop for visitors. Although it can get quite hot during the day, a constant breeze can provide some relief. There is parking available, but during festivals, you may need to walk a bit further. Overall, this is a must-stop destination when visiting Suphan Buri!

近日我游览了“พระพุทธปุษยคีรีศรีสุวรรณภูมิ”，或者说“หลวงพ่ออู่ทอง”，这是位于สุพรรณบุรี的“วัดเขาทำเทียม”的一尊雕刻在悬崖上的佛像，成为了许多游客到访这个地区时必看的地标之一。

除了佛像的雄伟壮丽外，这里还有着悠久的历史。当推测“วัดเขาทำเทียม”是泰国最早的寺庙之一，建于释迦牟尼佛圆寂后300年，正是在这个时期，摩诃迦叶巴提萨大菩萨在印度的阿育王时代，进行了第三次法藏的活动，这位伟大的国王派遣了“พระโสณะ”和“พระอุตตร”两位高僧来到“สุวรรณภูมิ”传播佛教，并在古石碑上刻下了“ปุษยคิริ”，意思是“花山”，因为这里的山上开满了美丽的花朵，其中包括“ดอกสุพรรณิกา”（棉桃花）和“三色腊梅”，这令人惊叹之处在于，“ปุษยคิรี”这个名字与印度奥里萨邦Sarnath的“ปุษยคีรีสังฆาราม”相呼应。

而“วัดเขาทำเทียม”这个名字的含义是“与วัดเขาพระ共同建设的寺庙”，因为“เทียม”的意思是“配对”。在1937年，它获得了与“วัดเขาพระ”同时成立的许可，并在1971年获得了由王室赐予的“วิสุงคามสีมา”（王室授予僧侣设立的佛殿边界）。

从สุพรรณบุรี市中心出发，经过大约40分钟便可到达อู่ทอง县，接着往ที่เขาทำเทียม稍作上行，交通十分便利，且全程都有指示牌。此地开阔且通风，雕刻的悬崖环绕着游客。白天的气温较高，但是随时都有风吹来，能在一定程度上缓解炎热。虽然有停车位，但在节日期间可能需要走远一点，总的来说，这是一个漫步สุพรรณ不可错过的好去处。

The café on the mountain offers stunning sea views, but you’ll need to park your car at Wat Koh Prid and walk about 150 meters to reach it (it's quite hot!). 

Once you arrive, you'll find plenty of seating and beautiful photo opportunities, as the café is perched on the edge of a cliff.

I ordered the iced caramel Thai tea, priced at 80 baht. It was rich and delicious. The café has a variety of drinks and food options available as well.

The area is located on the ridge of Ya Tiang, at an elevation of approximately 650 meters above sea level. To the west, one can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Lam Takong Reservoir below, along with the prominent E-Toh Mountain and the distinctive shape of Jit Mountain. Notably, there is a steep escarpment to the southwest and a dip slope to the northeast, which showcase the unique topography characteristic of the E-Toh mountain formation.

It is a stunning viewpoint that extends out to embrace the dawn. The glimmering reflections of the water surface from the Huai Som Sanuk reservoir dance upon the cliff face of Phra Ham Hod, which is a steep cliff rising 700 meters. There is no railing to hold onto while gazing down at the sheer drop, which creates a thrilling sense of vertigo. This exhilarating experience has given rise to the legend of the name "Phra Ham Hod."
