ประวัติวัดกลาง หรือ วัดโพธิ์ศรีศรัทธาธรรม ตามประวัติเล่าขานเริ่มก่อตั้งมาตั้งแต่ก่อนกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์โดยกระทรวงศึกษาธิการได้ประกาศให้เป็นวัดที่มีพระสงฆ์จำพรรษาเมื่อวันที่ 30 มกราคม พ.ศ 2500 เดิมวัดโพธิ์ศรีศรัทธาธรรม มีชื่อเรียกว่า “วัดโพธิ์ค้ำ” แต่ต่อมาถูกชาวบ้านเรียกว่า “วัดกลาง” ซึ่งเรียกกันตามลักษณะที่ตั้งของวัด เพราะเป็นวัดที่อยู่ตรงกลางซึ่งตั้งระหว่างวัดเหนือกับวัดใต้นั่นเอง แต่ต่อมาในสมัยของพระศรีสิทธิกรรณ์ นายอำเภอมโนรมย์คนแรก ตั้งชื่อวัดให้ใหม่ว่า” วัดโพธิ์ศรีศรัทธาธรรม” 

ตั้งแต่นั้นเป็นต้นมา ตามตำนานประวัติหลวงพ่อสามศรี เป็นพระพุทธรูปปางสะดุ้งมาร หรือปางมารวิชัย โดยมีพุทธลักษณะที่งดงาม เนื่องจากมีการผสมผสานพุทธศิลป์หลากยุคหลากสมัย จากการสันณิฐานหลวงพ่อสามศรีสร้างขึ้นในยุคสมัยเชียงแสนและสุโขทัยมีคำกล่าวขานสืบกันมาจากคนรุ่นเก่าๆว่า หลวงพ่อสามศรี เดิมชื่อ “หลวงพ่อโยก” มีสาเหตุสืบเนื่องมาจากในสมัยก่อน อำเภอมโนรมย์เป็นศูนย์กลางการคมนาคมทางเรือที่สำคัญ จึงเป็นเหตุให้มีการสัญจรทางเรือเป็นจำนวนมากและที่ตั้งของวัดนั้นบริเวณหน้าวัดติดกับแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา 

เมื่อเรือโดยสารหรือเรือสินค้าผ่านไปมาผู้คนก็มักจะยกมือไหว้ตลอด เรือบางลำก็จะวักเอาน้ำหน้าวัดขึ้นมาประพรมเพื่อความเป็นสิริมงคลแก่เรือของตนเอง เพราะถือว่าเป็นน้ำมนต์อันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของหลวงพ่อโยกนั่นเอง ในบางครั้งผู้คนที่ผ่านมาทางเรือก้ได้พบเห็นปาฎิหาริย์ คือ เห็นองค์หลวงพ่อโยกเยกเอียงกายไปมาจึงสร้างความอัศจรรย์ใจแก่ผู้พบเห็นยิ่งนัก โดยเฉพาะคนเรือจะพบเห็นบ่อยครั้งจึงได้ขนานนามว่า “หลวงพ่อโยก” นั่นเอง
