His Majesty the King has initiated a project to develop the Bung Khong Long reservoir to prevent flooding and to channel water from the lake for agricultural development. Bung Kalani is well-known for its vast wetlands, home to many beautiful lakes. Bung Khong Long is a natural tourist attraction in Bung Kalani that is just as majestic as any other water body, boasting a reliable water supply throughout the year, contributing to its rich biodiversity and significant ecosystem. In 1977, His Majesty the King discussed with the Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department and the Governor of Nong Khai Province the potential for developing the Bung Khong Long area to maximize agricultural irrigation. Consequently, the Bung Khong Long reservoir project was established in 1980 and was completed within the same year. Today, farmers have diversified their agricultural practices and achieved higher yields, leading to increased income. Additionally, tourism benefits have provided local residents with greater earnings, as Bung Khong Long is a charming and unique leisure destination that locals affectionately refer to as the "sea of the Northeast." *Must-visit attractions* - Kham Sabu Beach: A relaxing spot with stunning views of Phu Langka in the distance. - Kanab Bung Public Park: Another chill garden where you can enjoy leisurely moments in comfort. Bung Khong Long is a wetland area where fishing is prohibited and serves as the headquarters for the Bung Khong Long Wildlife Sanctuary. Birdwatchers should not miss the opportunity to visit the Don Sawan birdwatching point located within the sanctuary. *Activities you can't miss* - Bamboo rafting on Bung Khong Long. - Jumping into the water and playing with rental inflatable tubes available on the beach. - Taking photos beside the naturally hung wooden swing on a giant tree by the beach.
